. . . was spellcheck (for Word documents) on my last keyboard. I have a new one now and the F7 doesn't work. Anyone got any ideas how to enable it please? (it is a wireless keyboard in case that is relevant)

Will you please open a Word document and see if F10 runs the spellcheck. Let us know.

Hi Ethel,

the F10 button does say spell on it, but when I press it it opens a web page.

shivvy - I've not forgotten you, but may need some time! :)

Let us know if it gets sorted.

It's very strange your function key opening a web page though!

Have just tried this on my laptop and F7 still opens the spell checker.

What have you got set in your Regional and Language Options? (Control Panel) (just a thought)

Machecoul - regional options are English (United Kingdom).

When you open word and click on tools - does spelling and grammar have f7 next to it?

I've had a look around options and customise and apart from the tab labelled spelling and grammar which just says which dictionary is selected I can't see anything which might help. Sorry.

Your keyboard hasn't been set up to use f7 with the function key has it or even with ctrl or alt? (Just a final thought)

I found this:

very smooth keyboard and mouse. lots of features. the only thing i didn't care for was the way the function keys double as frequently used windows operations. for example with the Function Lock key ON, F7 is F7 as you would expect, with the Function Key OFF F7 becomes "reply" as in reply to an email. It's not bad, just takes some getting used to if you do use function keys in some of your applications. The other weird thing is that in Outlook F7 is spell check, whereas on this Microsoft keyboard, F7 doubles as "reply" and "spell check" is F10. kinda weird. but again, other than that, it is a good buy.

Thanks so much Machecoul. I tried the info in your last post and it worked! It was very kind of you (and Ethel) to take the time to try and find a solution for me. I am back to being a lazy typist relying on spellcheck to help me out!

PS - Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you but I couldn't get my response to post for a few days for some reason.
