USB Freeview Receiver

Does anyone know what are good signal areas from experience, for a USB Freeview Receiver - Have been reading lots of posts and reviews on them and there are quite a few not-so-good stories about having to connect to external aerials etc.

Also, does anyone have any idea of what is a good make one that isn't too dear?
