WHat is the easiest and best way to accept payment on a website. I intend to sell some stuff from a webpage. Is it doable with very little programming knowledge?

Sorry, not a full answer but many people use Paypal or Nochex as forms of payments so perhaps you can look at these (www.paypal.com, www.nochex.com). If you intend to have a shop/payment/checkout system I think it gets complicated (=expensive) since you need the SSL encryption facility on your website plus extras to process online payments.
The easiest way is to take cheques by mail and say this on your website. The next easiest way is to securely capture credit cards and process them backend (ie. have them securely emailed to you where you enter them manually into your PDQ). The final way is to have a real-time transaction processing system. SInce this needs to be secure, tied into your website, and tied into the bank networks, you can expect to spend *a lot* of money on this. If it's a small enterprise where manual processing is not too much of an issue, then go with the second option.
Alternatively, if you are selling a product, open another shop on eBay too, and take payments thru them.
