search companion

Whilst using windows (xp) Whenever I double click on a folder, instead of getting a list of the files in the folder, it brings up "search companion" in the box at the side and the address bar. This won't then show the contents of the folder and is becoming frustrating. My only option a present i to right click each folder then select "explore" which is time consuming.
Have I accidently adjusted a setting somewhere? Can anyone help me get this changed back!?

At the top of each folder, in the menu should be a "Search" button (has magnifying glass icon).
Click this button to come out of this mode.

Thanks Sparky. Obvious when you point it out, but that has fixed it! I don't suppose there is a way to change it on ALL folders simluatneously is there - as I must have applied to to all folder at the same time somehow to start with?

All I can think of is...
Open My Computer>Tools>Folder Options>View

scroll down and look for a Tick Box called
Remember each folder's view settings

This box should be ticked, then XP should remember the last view of each window.

Try this and see how you get on.
