Why are the Scotts so racist to the English

What with punching kids and invalids for wearing an England shirt and Murray supporting "anyone but England" what is this obsession with hating the English? Huge amounts of resources are pumped into Scotland from England, they have devolved government, their very own trough, they can vote on English matters we can't vote on Scottish matters, most of our government is bl00dy jock anyway and still they hate us. I back the Scots anytime they are not playing England but in return they'd back the bl00dy martians rather than England. What have we done to be so loathed? Are they still beliveing all that Braveheart sh1t? Gibson was a bl00dy Aussie anyway. Rant over!

Not actually sure where all the oil is located Loosehead, but Scots tell me that if Scotland were independent, it would be in their territory, given standard definitions of territorial waters. I'm no expert on this, so feel free to prove me wrong.

And as climate change turns southern England into a desert, they'll be stealing all Scotland's water as well...

Most of the North sea is international waters. The British effort to extract oil is exactly that, British ie a collective effort to extract Oil, Scotland get's more benefit than most. Even if it was in their "territorial" waters they'd be a lot outside too. Norway for example also extract oil. All this "England stole our oil" routine is laughable. It's a British operation not English. Even if it was 100% Scottish they'd be moaning at the English for something else while the Norwegians extracted it, still they'd probably like that, anyone but England eh?

Those idiots who assaulted the 7 year old in Edinburgh and the gentleman in Aberdeen do not represent the vast majority of us Scots, in fact 99.999999999999999% of us would never stoop so low as to carry out such cowardly attacks, and I hope the Police catch the scum responsible and prosecute them to the maximum level.
That said, as long as I can remember, there has always been good natured banter between Scotland and England and there always will be. However I do not doubt that there will always be some misguided fools (on both sides of the border) ready to take the banter one stage farther. I live and work in England, Im married to a beautiful English lady, and I love being here, but I will be supporting Brazil until they either win the world cup or get knocked out by France. I tried supporting England once but it didnt feel right,

thanks Loosehead, I must have been misinformed. I blame Mel Gibson. But in a way I think the Scots aren't protesting that England has taken their oil but - as you say - that Britain has - ie, the Union is only of use to England as long as Scotland has resources to exploit; when the oil runs out, Scotland can become independent again.

I saw this being discussed last night on QT and couldn't really believe they devoted so much time to it. There has always been banter between England and the other nations that make up the UK when it comes to sport.

I don't think it really is a HATE thing at all, it's just the way it's always been. Being from a Welsh family, I was brought up supporting other teams when it came to rugby. I got a good ribbing when England won the world cup, but got my own back when we got the Grand Slam in the Six Nations... (yay!).

The violence shown in the media isn't down to the person supporting England but idiots looking for a fight. They would probably have beaten up someone else had they not come across these 'England supporters'.

I am English and spend a lot of time in Scotland.

I have had nothing but goodwill and friendship from the people I meet. If I could I would move to Scotland tomorrow - just for the fresh air and fantastic community spirit if nothing else.
