Quite a lot of images are not showing on my web pages - there is a small box with a red x in the top corner. Can anyone advise what the problem is ?

it means the web browser cannot find the image to display it. Do you have the right path/filename in the src attribute of the img tag?

A lot of Webs ervers are on Linix/Unix so the case of the file name is important.

thanx for advice WoWo but I am none the wiser now lol
This can also sometimes be the fault at the other end - it "may" not be a problem with your browser.
All it means is that he pictures are not downloading correctly,if you get websites with some images showing, then probabiity is that it is at the other end.
Also worth trying using different browsers to see if you have the same problem, IE Internet explorer AND Firefox.
Make sure the paths to the images are correct. If the images are like

/images/help.jpg

then make sure on your website it says

< img src = " /images/help.jpg" > etc.
