I have a computer with an internal modem, and a computer without. Is it possible to route the latter through the former so that I can download stuff directly onto the latter machine without having to muck about with copying endless floppies?
I've never done this with a dial up connection but the theory is the same. You need to Set up a Local Area Network (LAN) with the two PC's and share the connection, alternately if you set up a LAN you will be able to download on one PC and share the files you download between the two computers.
You will need an ethernet card in each machine plus a cross-over cable to connect the two. Then run internet connection sharing (ICS) on the modem enabled one. With the LAN you will be able to copy files over the network and with ICS you will be able to share the internet connection.
