whenever I try to watch latest trailers or movie clips on Quicktime a Large question mark (?) shows up in the middle of a very large Q. and then the trailer or the clip dosen't run.

For some reason (probably related to codecs) QuickTime doesn't recognise the file as an acceptable format.

Switch to a far better player, VLC. (Along with others, I've been recommending VLC, here on AB, for ages. A few hours ago I heard it recommended on BBC World Service's technology proramme. It sounds like the word is spreading!):

but surely the trailers on the quicktime website are only designed to run in their own viewer ?
You need the Quicktime plug-in. Should have been installed when you installed Quicktime.
