I have downloaded a couple of films now from the internet but when I try and copy them on to a CD for viewing on a DVD player, I get the information that the format is not recognisable even though the file tells me that it is AVI format.
Winamp will play the file but Windows media player will not.
I have copied AVI files before with no problem.

I need to be able to get the file onto a CD-R so as I can watch it through a DVD player.

Can anyone help me?

Do you mean copy to a DVD?
Hiya

When you say 'films' can I take it you mean full-length films? If so, you'll need a DVD - it'll be far too large a file to fit onto a CD. You'll need to convert the file (avi, DivX, MPEG) to a file the DVD player will recognise and for this there's plenty of choice available - some of them free. Use Google to look for one (look for video converting software).

Thanks for your help.

Yes it is a full length film but I don't mind it being on 2 CD-R's in VCD format.

I now know that I need to convert it to MPEG format first.
Thanks again.
