Renewing car tax by internet
5 Answers
Ive just renewed my car tax with DVLA and true to word it arrived in 4 days.
Has anyone had any problems with this system?
I'm curious cos if it doesn't arrive, you have to contact DVLA and what do they tell you to do? As you cannot drive your car without a valid tax disc, you can't get to the Post Office to get another or do you have to stay in the house (cos you cant drive to work) and wait for a replacement???
Strange question I know - maybe I should get out more...

Therefore it would come within the 14days. If you get a ticket from one of our traffic warden friends, then you have a very good excuse for not paying the fine and a letter with the confirmation e-mail and again, producing your documents would suffice.
I know this is an old question but it popped up in Google. For the benefit of anyone wondering the same, there is an exemption from failing to display a tax disk in the first five working days of the month (note: you must apply for the tax disc before using the vehicle on the road).
It does not apply any other time, i.e. if you buy a car mid-month, you must buy a tax disc from the post office and display it before taking the vehicle on the road.
