Norton erases my passwords/cookies

My Norton Virus Protection cleans out all "useless" internet files. Unfortunately it also cleans any cookies relating to login names and passwords to regular sites.

Is there any way I can stop it doing this to these cookies ?
its a pain to keep re entering logins every visit to a site.
