hotmail blocking

Is it possible to block emails from a certain source (or a certain "subject") when using Hotmail under Outlook XP ?
I keep on getting pestered by emails offering certain "goods", they appear to be from the same source, albeit with slightly different subjects - and want to block them - I can do this under webmail but apparently this does not affect Outlook.

Unfortunatly, this is spam. It is almost impossible to block out of your inbox a couple of reasons.
1) Companies that do advertise via spam have programs that send out hundreds of thousands of emails, with differering subjects to get round spam blockers that have already been out in in place by providers such as hotmail in your case, and Gmail, yahoo etc.
2) Also, and this is the very tricky part, when they send out these hundreds of thousands of emails, they often all come from different gibberish email address (such as: "[email protected]) so make it impossible to block specific email address as you have said.

Is it possible to set up a rule which blocks certain phrases in Outlook XP though - which works on Hotmail ?
I know that it is on POP boxes ...
Hotmail is SMTP though......

I believe Outlook has certain plugins you can get for it to upgrade its spam capabilities, but unless you're made to use Outlook for other reasons, give Thunderbird a go for your email. It's just like Outlook but free, and has a great spam filter that learns what is spam and what isn't.
