There are 2 extra usb headers at the front of my pc, wires from them, to a plug of some sort - I guess. What do I need to activate them?

Your mainboard may have extra USB "headers" (two rows of 4 or 5 metal pins) to which you can attach the front panel USB connectors. See your mainboard manual for the location of these.

That's what I mean J2, book says i got 2 header pins and 2 usb sockets are already at front, apparently wired but they don't react when I plug cables in so what more do I need? [don't want to poke around inside till I get a little advice. :-)
You may have to enable them in the BIOS or the wires are plugged onto the mainboard incorrectly (very easy to do).
