Do all cordless phones not work in a power cut???

Can somebody tell me if all cordless phones do not work in a power cut??? Also I see they have rechargable batteries in them, do you ever need to replace these?? if so, what if you do not have a charger??

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Yes, you can put 'ordinary' batteries in them but NEVER put them on the charger. I would only use ordinary batteries in an emegency if the rechargeables are 'down'. It's worth having some spare rechargeables instead (and their own charger).
If you're lucky, rechargeables can last up to 5 years - use NiMh ones, not NiCad.
