Wireless network card thingys
4 Answers
Apologies for sounding extremely thick... i am totally non-technical i'm afraid.
I have a laptop with a wireless network card thing that i pop in a little slot in order to connect to the internet. I also have a desktop pc and they are networked(?) through a router.
(I didn't set any of this up, needless to say.)
Now, i am going away for a short time and leaving my laptop in the clutches of a teenager but i do not want her to access the internet ON MY LAPTOP in my absence. Happy for her to use it for other things, however, and indeed she needs to use it. (She has inadvertantly downloaded things i do not want on there, in the past.)
If i remove the network card and hide it will that make it very difficult for her to use the laptop to connect, or might she figure a simple way to do so?
Thanks for any suggestions :0)

HOWEVER, if the teenager is remotely switched on she may work out that she can buy a network cable, plug it in to the back of the router and connect that way. Then again, she may not!!!
Good luck.

Hey fee-is-me, from the stuff you have said. i gather you dont want a teenager like myself, to download and go on the internet on your laptop. so what you can do, is go to... Start...Control panel....User accounts...create an new account....and Limted account or user. and she will only be able to go on like...msn or internet thats it, no downloading. and she can't change it as you have to be an administator.
i hope this help's you.

Oh poo.
Yes, she is quite clued up and has a bunch of wires and cables somewhere i believe. Poo. Poo. Poo.
matty34... i would do that but i don't want her to think i have been mean by doing it deliberately. She is the daughter of a friend and i don't want any issues between us as her mother is very ill at the moment so i'm kind of doing this as a favour and stomping on eggshells at the same time.
I could always glue it shut... :-/
