Can anyone help me with my hot water problem, I have hot water storage tank and a central heating boiler which heats both the heating and hot water.
I now find that I cant heat my hot water, when I press the hot water 'on' or 'overide' switch on my controller the boiler does not fire up. but if the central heating is running then I can heat the hot water.
So is it a problem with the controller, or perhaps the changeover valve near the tank.
Any suggestions please.

Methinks it is either a fault on your 3 port or your two port motorised valve. If you look closely you will see a lever and arrow on it , try pushing it along when your time clock is asking all to be off, and see and listen.

Thanks hard@it. I suspected the motorised valve to be the problem although the water does heat up if I activate the central heating first to light the boiler, hence the reason Im now suspecting the time clock.

If your timeclock is switching to either of the heating and hot water valves at your set times then you must ensure the valve (s) is actuating. I am sure it is the valve motor that is prob.
