I personally found Yahoo useless.

One of my websites rates in the top 20 on a Yahoo search, but nowhere on a Google one ... so Yahoo scores on that one.

Saying that I mostly use Google, it will throw up more results...

You'd be hard pushed to find a better search engine than Google because they have some of the brightest computer engineers on the planet working there, and they devote so much time to making their searches better and more useful. They also see further than the rest, and know that surfing for random information is really just the tip of the iceberg as far as searching goes.

So no, right now, google is numero uno.

Where AltaVista leads, Google follows. Almost every enhancement to Google (e.g. image searching and translation facilities) existed on AltaVista well before it was added to Google. AltaVista remains the best search engine for images. It can often return more useful results than Google for other searches, as well:

Through my research i carried out whilst doing communications in my degree, I have found that google is the Big Brother of the search engine community. Google through expert marketing and media right up have secured a number one spot when it comes to searching the internet. Google decide what we can and cannot see and favour those sites that help keep them in the black. Every time we use google there is a profile built up on our searching habits, this in turn is used to target our searches for sites they feel are justified. Google through their complex system have proving this in China. In China they have used a governement influenced filter that is used to control pages searched for by the chinese. Ask yourself this, Why was google chosen by the Chinese dictatorship, The Answer is simple TOTAL CONTROL.
Use more than one search engine Google is not the google it used to be.
