TomTom One

I've just got this cheap and cheerful version but have some questions that I really cannot find answers for on the website and hope someone here can help.
1. Using travel warnings. Am I right in assuming that I MUST have a bluetooth enabled phone? Can I not download via the internet? (I am not prepared to purchase a new phone just to subscribe to their paid service, but I really would find that service really useful)
2. On the bottom left of the screen, just above the blue bar there is what looks like a sideways plug, in a circle, with a red X running through it. What on earth is it? Whether the Tom Tom is plugged in to charge indoors or plugged in on a car journey that circle and strange symbol remains on the screen and it's driving me nuts.
3. Under preferences the enable docking is greyed out. I would like to know what it means, unless I am Apollo 62.
I must be having a thick moment but I can't find these answers and I have a horrid feeling that I can't update unless I purchase a bluetooth enabled phone - that means a rental and I use payg.

2. Your minute is up Bob - please report back
3. No I am not Apollo 62 - I am Apollo 55
4. I have a USB cable and it says no updates. I have to purchase the extras which brings me back to buying a bluetooth phone to do so. Back to the "Bugga" again.

1. You need bluetooth to connect your phone to TomTom. I've got bluetooth, but never use the traffic thing cos it costs money. I find the radio is perfectly good enough for that.
2. Sorry about delay - had to find unit, then go outside for GPS signal. Haven't actually got that symbol on mine, although I do recall seeing it. Is it a bluetooth symbol crossed out, implying the bluetooth is off?
3. The docking is about connecting to your vehicle. You can make the night vision turn on with your headlights and get the unit to mute the stereo, but not sure how.
4. Not sure about the updates thing - have never tried it. I assumed you just plugged it into PC.
