Right, I'm going to explain this really badly but here goes.

On certain sites, such as guardian.co.uk, I will click on a link, but then want to return to the previous page. The back button seems to do nothing so I check 'the back drop-down list' (or whatever it's called) and i see that between my current page and the previous page are one or two (but sometimes about six) pages called something like 'http://ads.guardian.co.uk/etc etc'

I have to click past these to get to the page i want. It's not a big deal - it just annoys me that single click of the Back button doesn't work. I have to click several times or use the drop-down list.

I've also noticed that it's only my home computer that does this. The problem doesn't exist on my work PC. Have I got some kind of spyware? I'm clueless about these things.

Is there any way of solving this gripe?? Thanks.

It's called mouse trapping, the advertiser intends to keep you on the site...the pop-ups will have been blocked by the security setting on your works computer...I work for MSN and we would refuse an adverrt like that because of your very reason...ther's nothing you can do about it i'm afraid
More of a question to other potential answerers ( <- lol) but could this be solved by simply stopping traffic to ads.sitename.com either by using the HOSTS file to redirect information locally, or using something like Adblock on Firefox?

Thought I should pose the question before explaining in detail how to do all of the above, only for it not to work...!?!

If you want to try either of the above methods and don't know how to do them NJOK, let me know..
