LaCie make good external hard drives:-

Yep, they are good.

I bought myself a Western Digital external drive which does the trick.

Got it from Amazon. Is a 40GB drive and was about 50 at the time.
I normally use a LaCie and it's excellent.

but at the weekend my mate bought a Seagate(?) 300gb (!!) one from Maplins for 99.00 (down from 179.00).

I helped her get it up and running on her PC and it seems pretty good.

*rushing off to Maplins now.

LaCie, Western Digital, Seagate, Maxtor; are all good brands for hard drives.

If you have a Mac make sure it has a firewire port. Otherwise firewire or USB2 should do, as long as you have one of those ports on your computer (firewire is better).
