Is it possible to play back "back up" DVD's recorded from the Sky plus box on any DVD/PC or does it have to be played back through the Sky plus box ?

I have recorded programs from my Sky+ plus box to my DVD recorder on a DVD disk and then played them on another DVD player.

I had to finalise them first before they could play on another DVD player.
