changing broadband connection but keeping old modem

I am switching my broadband from NTl to Talk Talk very soon. Talk Talk are selling their modem for 29.99 but cant I use the NTl modem box I already have with Talk Talk? Will everything work out ok? Its not compulsory to buy the talk talk modem.
