I have a Belkin Wireless Modem Router that has a firewall built in and running. Do I also need a personal firewall on my pc, like Sygate, as well or will they conflict?

No they will not conflict. It is better to have both.

There is an excellent free software firewall from Zone Alarm that you can download from the web.

Search for Zone alarm, make sure you get the free one.
