Converting .wps file to .doc...?

Does anyone know how to convert a .wps file (Windows Word XP text file) into a more basic .doc file, but without losing all the fancy bits?

I have a C.V. written as a .wps file - with a specific layout, text boxes, that kind of thing - but whenever I try to save it as a .doc file instead, it loses all the formatting and looks a bit..well..naff, really! Ideally don't want to have to type the thing all out again, so is there another way?

A WPS file is a MS Works format file (Works has its own word processor). Not sure why you think a DOC file is more basic.

If you have the proper MS Word product then open it and select File then Open.

In the drop down list for Files of Type (at the bottom) where DOC is currently selected, select WPS from the list.

This will only show WPS files.

Find the one you have and import it into Word.

You should then be able to save it as a DOC file from Word.

btw, this is using Word 2003, not sure all versions of Word will read WPS files.

Microsoft do provide a WPS to DOC convertor.

Search in Google for "WPS converter" and you will find a few hits.

No luck so far, but thanks for your suggestions; tried importing it and saving it as .doc but I lost all the text written in text boxes, and the converters seem to all change .doc to .wps but not vice versa. Will keep tapping away though as see if I can find a way around it :)
