I've just tried writing a music file to a CD for the first time using Windows Media Player. I did one track to see if it came out alright; it did. Put the CD back in the rewriter drive and the computer said it was not blank, put a blank one in. Have I messed up cos I used a CD-R instead of a CD-RW or what? If so, is there any way round it or have I got an 80 min CD with one 2 1/2 min track on it?
with the disc in and media player open to"copy to cd or device" in the top right hand corner is an erase disc button ,this will erase a cdrw but not a cdr .
so you have probably made a cd single!!
In my experience, unless you are using cd-rw discs, if you "end the session" in any way then the disc is finalised and you can't add anymore to it. So taking it out to check it will most likely have ended your disc's capability to be written to. Bummer I know, but at least now you know and haven't wasted shed-loads of discs before realising (certainly NOT like I did!).
You can add to sessions on CDR using 'CDmaker 2000 Plus' this came packaged with my XP; you can have add to session, music and data mixed or cd copy, it works fine on a cdr,
