my dell inspiron 6000 laptop's battery will not charge

I plug my charger in and it charges for about 2 minutes then goes off - it will run without the battery in straight off the AC supply OK.Could it be the battery ??

it could be. have you tried phoning or emailing dell for advice ?

unplug and replug. keep doinf it until it stays on.

i have to do this about 7-8 times before it stays on.

also i hav found leaving the it plugged in all the time has fixed my prob as it nopw lasts for 2 hours whereas before i was lucky to get 5 mins

Yes I have persevered with it kept plugging it in an about after the 7 - 8th attempt it has charged it fully.
