Silly question, but I've got a Sony VAIO laptop and when using media player can get sound through my speakers but when the speakers arent connected I cant get any sound at all. Any ideas??!!
prev re-setting the volume on telewest handset?

So... as you say 'using media player can get sound'... but when the speakers arent connect you cant.... Might be a long shot, but if you want sound, i would leave them plugged in...

Have you got a rotating volume control on the laptop? Not sure if plugging in speakers would by pass this.

Alternatively have you double clicked volume icon on task bar - what is selected there?
