Hi, Whenever I attempt to put my acer laptop into standby mode or close the lid the following message appears:

'The device driver for the 'Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard' device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all application and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver'.

Unfortunately, being computer iliterate I have no idea what this message refers to, it just sounds so technical to me, can anyone help?

As always, thank you so much for your time and assistance.

Are you running Windows XP? I guess so, if so right click on My Computer and select Manage, that will take you into Computer Management, from there click on Device Manager, go down to Keyboards, right click on the Keyboard and select Update Driver

Hi stevec46,

I have followed your advice word for word, all is well until I get to keyboards, when I right click the only options I am given are:

scan for hardware changes and properties.

When I click on scan for hardware 'scanning plug and play compliant hardware... ' flashes up for a brief moment then disappears.

Any ideas?

Sincere apologies, I forgot a step. Once you are at Keyboards click the + symbol, then you will see 'Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard' , then right click that and select update Driver .
Personally I havent ever seen that for a keyboard, but worth a try.
What model is it?
Is it still under Warrantee?
Could have a look at there support Page: - http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads .html
