The TV will not output sound in any 5:1 or other fancy format.
The DVD player will output in surround sound (5:1 for example) so you need to feed that into your AV amp or whatever and it will split it into the 5 or 6 speakers.
See what connections you have on the back of the DVD player (or sky box) and see if you can feed them into your surround sound system.

my tv gives out stereo sound via two rca(phono) connections, i wanted to know if it possible to connect the tv to the sound system so that the tv sound comes out of all 5 speakers, at the moment i only get it coming from the two speakers.
