i have deleted the pictures i had saved on my camera phone by mistake and really want them back! is there any way that this is possible or are they lost forever. please can someone let me know asap as some of them mean a lot to me. thank you

99.999% gone I am afraid ... unless you copied them to an internal memory card ..

Well your pictures are actually still on your phone as long as you haven't taken anymore pictures since deleting them, however accessing them is a different thing, you would be best to go into a good computer shop and asking their advice, they may have the software required to access them. It could be a costly exercise, I'm not sure.
The pictures do not actually get deleted when you hit the delete button, it just makes that space available to take more photos in its place.
