Do most modern mobile-phones normally have e-mail features?

Most will have some form of e-mail, it may differ from phone to phone and from network provider too. One phone may allow an O2 customer to get their emails, but not a Vodafone (nb: example networks only).

Usually there's a POP3 or IMAP mail client that uses your GPRS connection to download the messages. Newer phones will probably use a similiar 3G protocol to do the job faster.
