I have changed from IE to Firefox but cannot now find "My favourites" nor can I make a direct link from the desktop - like an icon to take me to most recent AB page. Can anyone tell me what to do - thank you.

Your 'bookmarks' (the name for what are called 'favorites' in IE), are at the top, under the bookmarks menu. I assume you copied them over from IE when firefox asked you when it first started.

You can also get to them by pressting ctrl+B, and they appear on the left.

If you want to make a shortcut to a certain website on your desktop, just drag the little icon to the left of the "http://www" bit at the top, onto your desktop.
If you didn't copy your bookmarks over from IE to firefox, goto bookmarks->manage bookmarks, and then file->import.

Thanks but under" manage bookmarks" I don't have "file <import" and pressing ctrl +B dosen't do anything . I think my computer still needs tweaking a bit.

Thank you very much fo3nix silly me, I've managed to do it all now, I'm really grateful to you.
When you go into 'manage bookmarks' you then need to open 'file' - a drop down menu.

From there you can import bookmarks from IE.
