Are contract phones usually unlocked fm the manufacturer or they simlocked to the relevant sim the same as pay as u go ?

Depends on the network.

All phones are GSM from Manufactuer but the networks rebox and lock the phones.

Most phones are Network locked, but most phones can easiely b unlocked esp. Motorlas and Nokias
