I've recently bought an iPod Shuffle. In the User's Guide it says you can set iTunes to keep iPod Shuffle in the Source list when it isn't connected.

It tells you to select iPod Shuffle in the Source list and click the Options button and then select 'Keep this iPod in the Source list'.

The problem is I don't have this Options button!

I've downloaded the latest version of the software. If ever I wanted to use the iPod as a disk to store data I would need to access the Options button also.

Can anyone shed any light as to why I dont have the Options button and is there a way to find it please? Many thanks! Ruth

When the iPod is plugged in, click it so that it shows up on the main part of iTunes. There's an options button there, and some tabs in the middle of the screen i'd guess too...

Thank you fo3nix for your reply - but when I click on the iPod icon in the Source list I don't get the Options button or any tabs in the middle of the screen.

In the user guide it looks like I should see a panel of 4 buttons - an iPod icon, what looks to be an equaliser, what looks like a flower(?) and an eject iPod icon. But I ain't seeing it at all!

I've just re-installed the latest version of the software. I've checked the Apple help pages on line. On there it said choose iTunes>Preferences, click the iPod button and then select 'keep this iPod in the source list' checkbox. I can't do it that way either as I don't see Preferences.

It looks like I'll have to contact Apple Customer Support - unless you or anyone else can suggest anything else I can do?

Many thanks! Ruth

Mystery solved - although not satisfactorily!

After asking on Apple forum I've now learned that iTunes version 7 does not have this feature - it was available in earlier versions but Apple have now removed the option - lord knows why!
