Hi, i hope some1 can help me, i had to completely reboot my desktop pc to factory settings but now i can't play music as it is saying it is being used by another program. The settings say Modem #0 line playback and when i go into device manager it says unimodem half duplex audio device and it is working properly but i don't understand what this means. It was working perfectly before this. The volume isn't even highlighted so i know i cant change it to high so thats not the problem, the sounds are on windows default and i can't even play the sample sounds as it says card may be in use. I would really like to get help as i love playin my music!!!

You dont really give enough info how you got to this point - is it a new card or an old one moved to a new machine..

I would basically remove the card and any software that specifically relates to it. Then reboot the machine. Then reinstall the card allow windows to install its basic drivers or point it at your software disk. If you havent got a disk go to the support section of your soundcard supplier and download the drivers for your card and install them. Hopefully it will allocate settings correctly.
