10 Answers
Hope someone can help a novice! I have an acer laptop and recently boght some speakers (infinity) . They have a socket which goes into the microphone plug in but when used the volume is really low. Not exactly what I was expecting! I have gone onto the control panel and put the volume to max on everything but to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Most laptops have 2 or 3 audio in and out connections.
You should NOT plug it into the microphone plug-in.
There should be an audio-out that you plug into.
Most modern laptop speakers have a light green plug and they should plug into a light green socket in the laptop.

There are a number of places with volume controls on the laptop and speakers.
Volume controls on the speakers themselves
Maybe a volume control on the laptop case.
Also Windows offers a number of places where you can change the volume control.
Try on the bottom right of the blue bar along the bottom of your Windows desktop.
There will also be a volume control on the menus as well.
