Music CD

My first time, I have copied some music from one CD to another. The music plays fine on my computer, but when I took it home, it does not play on my hi-fi. Any ideas please?

What format were the original files, and what program did you use to copy them?

Did you do an exact copy, in other words it is in "audio" format. Or did you copy it on the new CD in MP3 format.

If "audio" format then some older CD players cannot play "copied" CDs.

If MP3 format, then some CD players cannot play MP3 files.

also, some CD players will play if burnt to a CD-R, but not a CD-RW

RIR - I don't understand your question of what format, but I used Roxio Easy CD Creator. The original CD was already a copy on a Boot's CD.

And, Vehelpfulguy I did an exact copy.

Someone said to me that the CD has to be 'finalized' ??

Any ideas?

I think to get a more positive answer to your question you must state what kind of disc you used, was it,
CD-R or CD-RW or CD+R or CD+RW. Also did you copy it in Audio format or in MP3 format?

And as vehelpfulguy and ugly_bob have already pointed out copied discs will not play on all CD players.

The disc I copied from was a CD-R and the destination disc is a CD-RW. I don't recall seeing anything to do with MP3'.

You'll be lucky to get a CD-RW to play on a domestic Hi-Fi, or even DVD plater, finalised or not. CD-R or CD+R, yes.

As already mentioned, I suspect your HI Fi does not play the RW type of disc.My Hi Fi does the same thing, but will accept CD-R discs if the music is in Audio format.If the songs are in MP3 format, my Hi Fi will not play the disc either.
Try copying the disc again, but using a CD-R.If this does not work, I suspect your HI Fi does not play MP3.I dont know Roxio Easy CD, but I would imagine it is a bit like Nero where it gives you the option to burn as an Audio or MP3 disc.If Roxio has this option, try making an Audio disc.You will only be able to fit around 20 tracks on an Audio disc though.

I thought it would be simple just to copy one CD to another, it definitely isn't! Anyway, I think I will try and copy it again, using a CD-R, if this doesn't work - guess it is probably my hi-fi at home.
