Flat screens

At work I have a lovely PC monitor. I believe it is plasma (i.e you poke it with your finger and it's slightly squishy), and it's flat and 'slim'. Not being very well versed in hardware can anyone find me a reasonably priced one somewhere? I've tried searching but because I don't really know the right terms am not sure I'm looking at the right thing!

Whilst most panels are manufactured by very few people - for example, many panels are manufactured by Samsung, but then repackaged and rebranded before being sold as, say, a Dell panel - different brand-names attach different quality impositions. A very cheap brand may consider half a dozen stuck pixels normal. You on the other hand, may not :-( - It's worth spending the extra 50 to get a really nice panel that's a bit brighter with no stuck pixels than the dirt cheap ones.
