DVD Recorder Sound

I am having trouble during Playback with occasional muffled sound. Could this possibly be because of inferior Scart leads or does any priced Scart lead suffice? Many Thanks for any replies.

Given that a scart lead - as anything else - is supposed to be fit for the intended purpose, then unless they were really cheap and cheerful, any scart should be OK. The only experience I have is of NO sound at all because the scart was not plugged in properly, though I have also experiences a wavy picture which was cured by repositioning leads touching each other - maybe the muffled sound is something similar.
I have an array of scart leads around the house including one with gold bits that I reluctantly bought at great expense. I have to say, begrudgingly, that the quality is noticeably better through it.
Also, have a look at the actual pins. Sometimes one works a bit loose and that can cause the muffled noise. Push gently onto them with something fine and plastic (paintbrush, toothbrush handle etc) to make sure they are all firmly in.
Hope this helps.

if your recorder has an svideo otput thenyou could try that as the vision and audio are separate- as the audio is through the two leads red and white. i would try adjusting your scart and making sure it is right in as my old telly had an akward scart input on it - so it could be the telly and not the scart lead.
