hi
what do i need to play dvds on a pc, win98?

i have installed the hardware but have no software, though the computer registers the existence of the player.

do i need something else added to it?

i have on somediscs some various software that may perhaps do the job

- lumiere video studio
-media mania video
-edit studio 3
-movie edit silver

will any of these do?
i don't want to install stuff because i don't have much space left, so a basic thing would do

preferably something i don't have to download, ad the computer i want to use this on has no net access

thanks

I would recommend the media player VLC, (which can be downloaded here - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ ) - as it is a completely self-contained program, and is light on hard disc space and computing power.

Unfortunately you would have to download it, but you could just copy it onto a CD or memory stick to transfer it to your Windows 98 PC.

hi tom,

thanks for answering

do you perhaps know how big it is? will it fit on a 512mb stick?

cheers
joko: easily, yes. it's a very small app.

note though that it's not officially supported on win98, but it'll probably work all the same. give it a go.
