trouble with ipod!!!!

im having a problem with my ipod. the trouble is when i plug it in the computer and the songs come up, they are grey and 'unclickable' so i cant change the names of them or delete them.
i think it has something to do with a little lock sign near the bottom, next to the used space/memory.

can someone help???
