Sonicstage Update / Backdate

I recently bought a new pc. I couldn't fnd my original Sonicstage disc (version 2.1 for a NWHD1), so downloaded vers 4.
When I tried to use this with the NWHD1 I was asked to format the player first. Having about 6000 tracks on it, I held off.
In the mean time, my Vers 2.1 turned up, so I removed vrs 4 and reinstalled 2.1.
Guess what? I'm stll being asked to format the player!
I know this software is rubbish, and I intend to buy a different brand of player eventually.
Until then, anyone have any ideas how I can proceed downloadng new stuff, whilst keeping what I already have?
Any help would be gratefully received.
