Do a quick test. Download Avant - a browser - and see if your computer is still slow.

I use it a lot - I find it fast and easy.
Don't bother with any version of IE. Scrap it and Install Mozilla Firefox.
Whilst I use Firefox for most things, and have done for over two years, it is impossible to scrap IE entirely.

It is enmeshed with Windows and you will mess the system up if you uninstall it.

As that is the case it is better to keep IE up to date, even if you rarely use it.

I use Firefox for 98% of my browsing, and Avant for the rest. Avant is IE dependent, but much quicker and lighter.
