AMD processors run very hot and they will soon shut your pc down. I have a modest Athlon 2100 which will not even boot to Windows 2000 first screen with a faulty/inadequate fan. The lesson is to get the biggest and best fan you can get and avoid all this over heating. If the processor gets too hot the mainboad will stop working. I think it is hard wired and there is no BIOS setting to override it. I am surprised that you have to wait 24 hours for it to cool. And even more surprised that you have to reset the BIOS (I would never take the processor out BTW).
