Internet Explorer 7

Having just been requested to upgrade I now have a new program which obstinately refuses to display websites so I am back on Firefox. Is this bad luck or has it affected many people this way as I assume it's upgraded millions recently?

IE 7 is just a cheap and rather poor copy of Firefox. Research suggests that fewer web sites work properly with 7 than with Firefox, so you can either stick with the best, or roll back to IE 6.
Don't believe anyone who tells you that it is not possible to roll back - it is; you can uninstall IE 7 from the Add and Remove Programs applet.

Have you got google desktop? If so, all but the very latest versions conflict with IE7. Update, reboot and all will be well.

Also, if you had other programmes running during the install, (Skype in my experience) that can adversely affect IE7.

I resolved it by uninstalling, (very easy), switching all other programmes off and re-installing.

After the reboot you can now switch on all other programmes.

I use Firefox for 98% of my browsing, and dislike IE with a passion. However, IE7 is a huge improvement on previous versions, so it is worth persisting with.

Typical, I rolled back to IE6 which worked as usual, the next day windows forced the upgrade on me and it still doesn't browse, then Firefox updated and guess what, they are both the same now and I'm having to use a tiny box on Kazaa to go online. I give up...
