Upgraded to IE7 form on the on-line update from MS. Now when I go into explorer the browser hangs and I have to shutdown every time. Any ideas on what the problem might be or how do I roll it back to ie6, which I had no problems with? Dave.
I had this, and found it was a conflict with my google desktop sidebar. Updating the sidebar sorted it.
Also, if you had programmes running when you installed it, this could cause problems. Uninstall, shut everything down and reinstall.
Before you do that though - try closing one application at a time and seeing if iE7 runs alright. Try and find if one application is causing a conflict. It could be your firewall, for example.
Alternatively, you could ditch IE and use Mozilla Firefox as I have done. It's much much better. And, while you're at it, use Mozilla Thunderbird as your mail program too (with excellent spam filter).
IE7 is as easy to uninstall as any other program from the usual path (Start, Setting, Control panel, Add/remove programs).
I installed it and it set the default "Save" option for web pages to "Web archive" which I didnt like, so binned it. I have since had the automatic update window pop up and offer me it again but again you just click No and it goes away... probably only to return at some later date!
I have been meaning to try Firfox but just never got round to it.
