DVD + Video Recorder

A little bird has told me that I may be getting a DVD Recorder from Santa. My set up at the moment is TV, Sky, Video and DVD. Would I be able to run my system with as it is + with the new recorder or would I have to get rid of the video?

I have over 300 films and other interesting items on video, and 60 blank tapes. I don't like to record on the same tape all the time so I rotate them. Also If I was able to use the player and the video would I be able to play a tape and record it onto a disk?

You will have to get rid of your original DVD player, you won't need this anyway because you will be replacing it with the DVD recorder which will also play DVDs.
You will have no trouble recording your Video tapes onto DVD discs, if you connect everything up correctly. Check what format your DVD recorder will accept, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW. Discs will need to formatted to play on other players.
