mp3 player help

just brought a philips mp3 player, i have installed the disc but when i insert the mp3 into the usb port a box appears saying searching for hardware but the just keeps flashing and doesnt do anything else

Try a different USB port. Make sure it's one actually linked to the computer, and not from a hub or similar.
