I am on the verge of buying a new computer which I want to run on broadband - possibly NTL or Tesco. I only have one phone socket in my house (BT) which is downstairs. Do I need a socket for running boardband? If so, whats the best way of installing an additional socket upstairs? Thank you.

Why not go wireless ? just plug wireless box in downstairs and use wireless dongle or card on new pc?
Consider NTL - it doesn't use the phone line at all, and excellent service.

I have broadband from Telewest (same as NTL) and was able to cancel my phone line altogether. I use Skype and very rarely the mobile phone.
Im with Ethel on this one.I highly recommend NTL Cable Braodband, and have been a customer for 5 years now.The service is fantastic.
