Has anyone updated to Explorer 7? If so have you experienced any problems? Several sites say they work better in Explorer 6 (including this one I believe) so I don't wish to update if disadvantages outweigh advantages.

I much prefer IE7 - but some people have problems with it.

You can easily uninstall it if you don't like it through the usual add/remove programmes, and IE6 will be fully restored.

Try it - you might like it!
My main issue with IE7 is that many of the toolbars and button positions cannot be customised so you are pretty much stuck with the standard interface.

I do like the tabbed browsing facility as it makes surfing quicker, neater and more organised.

I have not noticed any difference in performance when visiting this or any other site but it should be noted that I tend to visit the same sites a lot rather then constantly visiting new ones.

I am not going to go back to IE6 because I would miss the tabbed browsing and a couple of other features but I hope they allow greater customisation in later releases.

If you like the tabbed browsing, try firefox as a browser - very customise-able.
I tried IE7 and didn't like it, and as you say some sites just don't work with it, when I removed it I had IE6 back , everything just as it was, but with the bonus of tabbed browsing, much better now
If you are using IE and have tabbed browsing - you are using IE7.
have had probs with ie7 myself it would not connect to web pages it just shows a see through screen to the wallpaper and have heard on the grapvine that this is a commen problem caused by a bt broandband help line and you have to uninstall it but have not found the proggrame to uninstall it so am just running ie6 on my desktop now but my laptop works fine on ie7 but to tell the truth I prefer ie 6 to 7
Ethel, although I defer to your vast knowledge of computers etc, and you have helped and advised me on many ocassions,I can assure you Iam using IE6 and I do have tabbed browsing, I didn't like IE7 and uninstalled it. In help>about Internet Explorer it says:

Many thanks for your help - didn't want to be the source of any differences between Ethel and ermadea though.

Will have a go at downloading IE7 when I have some time in case I need to spend any time readjusting things but will stick with 6 for now - after all if it isn't broken why try and mend it. For what I do IE6 performs well.

Thank you all for your interest and advices and a Very Happy and Healthy 2007 to you all.

Regards,
